Dziupla is modular nesting box for small passerine birds (sparrows, nuthatches, flycatchers, redstarts, and woodpeckers), designed to be installed on walls and trees in urban environments. The geometric form of origami refers to tree hollow where birds nest.
Modular design allows installation of boxes in different positions and the creation of spatial sculptures that could arise for example on the end walls of buildings, like the murals. The intention is to create a website where anyone could sponsor ‘Dziupla’ and co-create a composition in the desired location, and in return receive a specially designed brooch. Nesting box is made of plywood and pine boards, varnished on the outside. ‘Dziupla’ could become an interesting alternative to the typical boxes for birds avaliable in the market and should encourage action to support conservation of birds in the city.
